St. Louis CITY SC Head Coach Bradley Carnell is the 2023 winner of the Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) Sports Personality of the Year Award. Carnell, along with other distinguished members of the St. Louis sports community, will be honored at the MAC’s Jack Buck Sports Awards on Tuesday, Dec. 5, at the Missouri Athletic Club.

The 46-year-old native of South Africa guided CITY SC to a historic inaugural season in Major League Soccer (MLS). The team became the first expansion team in MLS history to win 17 regular season games in their first season. CITY SC also became the first expansion team in MLS history to earn the top seed in their conference.
The Sports Personality of the Year Award, established by MAC member Jack Buck in 1970 to annually honor the top St. Louis sports figure, is voted on by members of the Club. Carnell is the first winner of the Award from the world of soccer. He joins a distinguished list of coaches who have won the Award including Whitey Herzog, Norm Stewart, Charlie Spoonhour, Dick Vermeil, Gary Pinkel and Craig Berube.
The MAC’s Jack Buck Sports Awards is regarded as the premier sports banquet in St. Louis. The Sports Personality of the Year award has been presented to some of the biggest names in sports history including Bob Gibson, Joe Torre, Lou Brock, Ozzie Smith, Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Brett Hull, Jimmy Connors, Marshall Faulk, Albert Pujols and Kurt Warner.
